It operates on 4 D batteries (not integrated), running for up to 23 hours on Low and 14 hours on High. Bulb replacement is a snap, thanks to the fast-open system. The Lantern's rugged design is weather-resistant and shatter-resistant, counting a non-slip, rubberized handle for comfortable carrying, and heavy-duty thermoplastic and rubber construction so it stands up to heavy use in the outdoors. Lantern measures approximately 11” x 7” x 7” and weighs 1.81 pounds not including batteries.
The Coleman 5326A700 Rugged 4D Battery-powered U-tube Lantern lets you get light together with you wherever you go not including the smell and danger of spilled fuel. The Rugged lantern runs on four D-cell batteries (not integrated) and offers light for up to 23 hours on low, or 14 hours on high. The seven-watt fluorescent U-tube creates a brighter and whiter light together with less power.

The rugged exterior is intended to be together weather-resistant and shatter-resistant and consists of a non-slip rubberized grip handle, while the bulb on this Coleman lantern utilizes an distinctive, fast-open system this makes it simple to replace. This lantern is everything as described and more. Gives off plenty of light, has a rugged handle and looks good. It requires 8 D batteries which are easy to install. We'll see how long they last. A great lantern for emergencies or camping.

The cons - it takes 4 d batteries. Buy then at the dollar store and pay about 3.00. The Pro's- sits flat, you can hang it, and it lasts for a long time on those batteries. The difference between the low and bright is noticeable and its nice to have the choice between the 2. Our electric went out for about 4 days this winter and it did a fine job on our dining room table as we played cards when it got dark outside., Used it outside for camping. I am going to purchase another. I see they have a family version, but geeze it takes 8 D batteries so I'll pass on that one.

The weather has been brutal this year in the northeast.
We recently lost power for three days, and these lanterns were a godsend.
They're sturdy, well made, and light up a huge room.
And like similar products, they don't seem to eat up the batteries as much.
We have two, but I definitely plan on ordering a few more.
